Do I need to have any specific qualifications to participate in the hackathon?
Participants are usually college grads. Entry-level and experienced marketing professionals are all welcome, though you’re not required to have prior marketing industry experience to participate.
Do I have to be present for the entire duration of the hackathon?
Yes. This will ensure you can maximize your time spent and efforts in your team as you develop your marketing strategies and deliverables.
Will I be competing as an individual or part of a team?
You’ll register as an individual but will be randomly assigned into a team of 5-10 members, depending on the number of participants.
Will the participating nonprofits be revealed prior to the event?
No. The identities and information of the participating nonprofits will be revealed on the day of the hackathon. This is to ensure fairness across all teams and discourage participants from researching and creating deliverables for the nonprofits prior to the event.
Will food and beverages be provided throughout the event?
Yes, there will be light bites and refreshments provided throughout the event. You are welcome to bring your own snacks too!
Are we expected to present or pitch the market campaign we develop at the event?
Yes, your team will give a presentation at the end-tail of the hackathon. You will be presenting in front of our panel of judges, the nonprofit representatives, and the other participants.
How will we submit our team’s deliverables after we complete them?
You will submit your presentations via Google Form. We will be displaying the QR code and sharing the link to this Google Form during the event.
How will the winners be selected and announced?
After all of the participating teams present their projects to our panel of judges, they will deliberate and select the winning team. Winners will be announced and awarded a physical certificate at the end of the event.
Do I receive a certificate for participating in the hackathon?
Yes, participants and winners will receive digital certificates for this event. These will be shared within a week after the event. Be sure to check the email address you’ve registered with as it will be sent there.
Can I work on the project or have access to the data after the event is over?
No, the project and access to non-profit information will conclude at the end of the event.
Who will own the IP (Intellectual Property) Rights to the campaign and deliverables you created?
Your team’s work and deliverables will belong to the nonprofits once the event is over.
